The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) – Health and Safety Management for Construction (UK)

NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction (UK and International) is a two-week qualification for the construction sector. It will give learners the skills they need to take on health and safety responsibilities.

Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Accredited Courses – Various courses

IOSH provide a range of accredited courses aimed at different levels of employee within a business, to help with understanding Health and Safety legislation and the employer’s and employees’ duty of care under H&S legislation.

Please note that IOSH courses are generally relevant to all industries including & not specific to the construction industry.  The CITB’s suite of Site Safety Plus courses are designed specifically to those working in the Construction Industry.

Confined Spaces Courses – Variety of Levels – Low Risk, Medium Risk and High Risk.

For those who are working in confined spaces to provide knowledge and understanding about how to work safely, implement procedures necessary to comply with Health and Safety legislation, according to the level of risk presented by the confined spaces your workforce is expected to work in.

Some training providers may only provide in house courses for the low risk confined spaces, whilst others offer accredited courses for all levels.

UKATA and IATP Asbestos Training – Variety of Courses

There are a variety of levels of Asbestos training courses available from basic Asbestos Awareness (classroom or e -learning delivery) to more in-depth UKATA and IATP courses for operatives that may be exposed to and have to work with/manage Asbestos through their duties.

Fire Marshall Training – half day course

For any person nominated by their employer to be a Fire Warden/Marshall.  The course will teach the essential duties of Fire Wardens / Marshals and provide the knowledge, skills and abilities to undertake their duties competently and confidently.

Please note that most general Fire Marshall courses tend to provide examples of scenarios based on an office environment.  However, some providers can adapt this to suit a construction-based environment.

Manual Handling – Variety of courses

There are a variety of levels of Manual Handling courses available; from basic Manual Handling Awareness to more in-depth classroom courses that can include practical elements.

Fit2Fit (Face Mask Fitting) – Train to Face Fit – One day course

For anyone involved in face mask fit testing.  This course enables you to face fit test members of staff within your company with half mask respirators.
