Health and Safety – The Law – Understanding Your Responsibilities

From The Bosses to The Employees - everyone has responsibility for their own and others' health and Safety at work.

The Bosses

Maybe you are a director or a member of the management team in your business and want to find out more about your own responsibilities under Health and Safety legislation.

For instance, did you know that if a health and safety offence is committed with the consent or connivance of, or is attributable to any neglect on the part of, any director, manager, secretary or other similar officer of the organisation, then that person (as well as the organisation) can be prosecuted under section 37 of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.

All sounds a bit scary doesn't it.  However, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has a range of useful information available on their website to help you understand your's and others' responsibilities.
